Secure payment orchestration

How Melo Pay handles payments

Melo Pay connects PeopleVanta payment requests to the active payment gateway operated through MeloHost, while keeping payment confirmation separate from the business action being paid for.

What happens when a customer pays

  • PeopleVanta creates a signed payment request containing the amount, ZMW currency, purpose and a unique reference.
  • Melo Pay validates the signature and opens the hosted payment experience.
  • For POS mobile-money payments, the customer approves the prompt and enters their PIN on their own phone.
  • The gateway is queried server-to-server. PeopleVanta completes the sale, subscription, order or invoice only after the confirmed amount, currency, reference and purpose match.

What we do not collect

PeopleVanta and the Melo Pay application do not ask the cashier to type the customer’s mobile-money PIN, and the PIN is not stored in PeopleVanta business records. Payment credentials are handled in the payment-provider and mobile-network experience.

Payment records and disputes

PeopleVanta keeps the transaction reference, amount, status and relevant business record so authorised users can reconcile a payment. A pending status is not treated as paid. Refunds, reversals, network delays and disputed transactions are handled according to the merchant’s process and the payment provider’s confirmed status.

Melo Pay ownership

Melo Pay is a MeloHost payment service used by PeopleVanta. PeopleVanta is owned by MeloHost Trading under Melo Investments Limited.
